The making of a Geisha...
Gong Li stars as Hatsumomo--Memoirs of a Geisha
Yep, I have seen it. Arthur Golden's masterpiece in motion picture. I have to admit it, I loved the book better than the movie. I didn't really feel the devastated life of Sayuri/Chiyo (Ziyi Zhang) both as a nine-year old kid and as a geisha forced to be driven away from whatever she desires. On the other hand, the movie's cinematography was phenomenal. All those tatami mats, the cherry blossoms, the "tipsy" house, the Shirakawa stream banks( although it was not mentioned in the movie I think), the road to Hakone, etc. was magnificently captured. To add the bonus, man...Gong Li's the bomb!! Ang hot niya sa movie sobra. I believe she's already 40+ something pero she looks she's in her early 30's palang. Absolutely gorgeous!--really fit for Hatsumomo's role. And of course Zhang Ziyi's face was soooo angelic and that little girl who played young Chiyo, Suzuka Ogho was cute din. Just wondering though, there are more Chinese than that of Japanese actors who portrayed the characters in the book. I can rate this movie 8 out of 10. =)
